i guess, i just had to start with this one. this was not "exactly" the 1st photo i' d clicked in my life, or should i say it was! a lot of memories are associated with this one. this would be like the beginning of an amorous affair .........

it was in the last week of May. i's on my way from college after writing genuine shit on my answer scripts. it was the 1st time i'd sat through an examination chewing pens, glancing at my fellow students, drinking water to ensure proper Ph balance, scratching my head, and probably all those stuffs that i'd have done some other time and in some other place.

it was the last semester for me at my last college and i'd no clue why i's sitting there trying to decipher the difference between white noise and the noise on the street [or at that moment, noise going through my head]...........or on very critical Qs of physics that i'd dreaded till my secondary exams. As far as i remember, i could answer only 50% of the paper. most of it though was far from hard science theory- it was an amalgamation of my imagination and bits n' pieces of what i could recollect from previous class lectures.

somehow, with a broken heart, which by the way is much heavier to drag than my own bodyweight, i came tollygunj. myriad emotions ran through my head [lungs, liver, kidney] about the kind of shameful marks i'd have to live on with for the rest of my life, if i did not get a chance in the colleges i would be applying in a week's time. this was when i spotted the kid in the photo.

this snap was taken on the lane that leads to my house. he had several of his friends along, at a distance. i began clicking their photos at a random pace with my newly bought mobile phone, as if suddenly i's being possessed by "Bresson's" soul. for the next few months i did nothing except clicking the photos of these bunch of kids who came from the nearby slum.

it was not that i's suddenly injected with an interest for photography on that afternoon of MAY '07 ........i'd always had admiration for the works of the Camera. But it was on that uneventful summer day that my affair, love and affection for it, culmintated to a very successful marriage.

p.s. Now i ofcourse have a small digital camera .....and my new mobile camera too, is much better :)
